Welcome, Friends

Jazz is a part of my life; my Grandfather started his collection when 78's were the standard form, and he moved on to 10 and 12 inch lp's when they were introduced. His collection tapered off in the early 1970's, when jazz was changing from acoustic to electric, and he wasn't into it anymore. My Dad started his collection when the 12 inch lp was still pretty new, and he's still collecting to this day. My collection started in the 1980's, and although mostly digital, I collect lp's too. This blog is compiled from all three collections, my Dad now the keeper of Grandad's collection. The music is sourced from lp or cd depending on rarity. I sincerely hope you have fun looking around. Listen often, enjoy and as my Grandad used to say, be good to yourselves. -Bret

The Three Sounds - Blue Genes

After a brief rest to deal with health issues, I'm back with a not quite forgotten session from the Three Sounds. Though the bulk of their recordings were for Blue Note, they did cut two sessions for Verve in 1962, and Blue Genes was one of them. Those worried that they would be accompanied by a large orchestra need not fear - this is the trio at the top of their game, and just the trio. Enjoy, my friends. Be good to yourselves.
